TRAVEL

Cloudcroft, NM is about a two to three hour drive from the El Paso International Airport and about a four to five hour drive from the Albuquerque International Sunport.

If you choose not to rent a car and drive from one of the airports, the Alamo Shuttle Service runs from the El Paso International Airport to the Alamogordo Best Western, where we’ve blocked off a few rooms. However, you are probably better off staying in Cloudcroft. See “Accommodations” below. Call the following number for an updated schedule: 1-800-872-2701. Once you get to the hotel, there are car rental places along White Sands Boulevard, where the hotel is, or you could arrange to carpool up and down the mountain.

ACCOMMODATIONS

    In Cloudcroft:
There are many good options if you want to stay in Cloudcroft and be within walking distance from the wedding location. Check out the following links for cabin rentals, some of which are priced comparably to regular hotel rooms. There are also a number of cabins/homes available through Amigo Realty with multiple bedrooms that would probably be a great deal for groups of friends or relatives who want to stay together.

  • Spruce Cabins: Small cottage-like cabins suitable for individuals and small groups, starting at $65 per night. The largest cabin accommodates up to six at $105 per night.
  • Amigo Realty: A collection of homes available for rent, perfect for larger groups and still quite reasonable–starting at $95 per night.
  • Buckhorn Cabins: no webpage… Call the owner, Gloria Blakey at (575)443-3038 for deals starting as low as $55 per night for a cabin with two queen beds.
  • There are also a number of inns in the area and one relatively expensive hotel (The Lodge):

  • Summit Inn
  • The Lodge
  • Other: A rather robust collection of other locations put together by the Town of Cloudcroft.
  • In Alamogordo: (down the mountain)
If you want to stay in a more traditional hotel, Alamogordo (David’s childhood home!) has every hotel you can think of. The downside is that you will be 30 minutes away and down a windy mountain road. But just in case, we have set aside a block of rooms at the Best Western for August 13-14. The rate is $71 per night. Please say that you are a part of the Colarusso/Smoler wedding.
These rooms are no longer reserved.
